The understanding of the underlying causes of Major Depressive Disorder and Post

The understanding of the underlying causes of Major Depressive Disorder and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder differ quite dramatically. While the causes of MDD remain elusive, there is a broad-based consensus on the etiology of PTSD. Complicating society’s ability to address these issues is the perennial scarcity of funding for research into mental health, on the one hand, and treatment therapies, on the other hand. Given this, in your opinion, should research efforts be directed at developing a deeper understanding of the causes of these two disorders? Or should efforts be committed to developing more effective treatments? Please provide the reason for your choice.
