H‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍i, this is a lot do your best. My initial theory was going either focus on Disabled students and their accessibility on campus or International students homesickness, culture shock and their adaption and development in America higher education You choose either or if you find a theories that has more source and easy for your you to work with choose a functional area within student affairs, identity a challenge within that area that could be addressed using student development theory (or theories), design an intervention that incorporates theory, and draft a 10-15 page paper that makes the case for the intervention. The invention could come in the form of programming, training, assessment, co-curricular experiences, and so forth – but interventions are not limited to these types of efforts and a combination of these interventions could be considered (but be wary of paper length!). Innovation in coming up with your intervention(s) is highly encouraged. Your paper should include: An introduction describing your topic and arguing the importance and/or need for the intervention A synthesized and concise literature review detailing what current scholarship can offer to help design the intervention (citations are key – but more importantly citations support your ideas with scholarly publications) Your literature review is not a book-report – it is an integration of ideas across your sources. What is the background and the story you want to tell about the topic, the area, and the intervention? A set of goals, objectives, and/or learning outcomes informed by the literature review and specific student development theories (the key here is to try to start with theory and then link to the intervention – rather than the other way around. We are APPLYING theory to SOLVE a problem….. not suggesting a solution and then forcing theories to fit!) An outline of the proposed intervention Must include 2 theories that are related to the area/intervention, a brief overview of each of the theories with appropriate literature references from class and outside sources, compare and contrast how your intervention might shift based on the different theories Important considerations for implementation (both challenges and opportunities) A description of the limitations in this approach and what still need to be done in this area of student affairs or research to address your topic, concerns, and/or intervention Your conclusion (this can be a brief summary in 1-2 paragraphs) You should have 7-10 primary resour‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍ces (., articles, some books, websites do not count towards your resource count but they are fine to reference in your paper) tudents will choose a functional area within student affairs, identity a challenge within that area that could be addressed using student development theory (or theories), design an intervention that incorporates theory, and draft a 10-15 page paper that makes the case for the intervention.
